Hello Everybody!

As you may or may not know,this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Gravitation anime!

In celebration we are planning a fanzine!

The Anniversary is October 4th and we’re really hoping to have zines sent out by then, so please preorder your zine by August 15th, you have until the September 15th to enter your submissions.

Proceeds will be going to an LGBT charity.

If you’re an artist or fic writer please please consider contributing, there’s a submission form here and a location poll here (so we can estimate shipping and packaging costs for international fans.)

We’re looking for full page art with background, 8.5 x 5.5 inches (horizontal/landscape) or similar larger proportion (approx 2550 x 1650 px), with a 1/8 inch bleed minimum (so don’t place stuff right on the edge), 300dpi minimum.

Fic should be complete one shots. No hard limit on length, but the zine will be around 30 pages so keep that in mind– we would like to put in many different submissions. A six page maximum is probably a good ballpark, but drabbles and other ficlets also considered.

Remember this is for charity, so please keep all pieces at 13+ rating or lower.

Participants are welcome to share their works outside the zine, and please consider promoting it!

If you can think of a contribution other than full page art or fic that you’d like to share,  please contact us, we may be able to include it.

Also, please consider promoting and reblogging this post and telling any and all of your old Gravi friends about this. We really want to put together something special, and to do that we lots of participation, and for that, we need artists and writers to know about this.

Pro-Anders Week is a week dedicated to the amazing revolutionary of Dragon Age 2. Our goal is to give Anders the appreciation he deserves! The event is running from October 10-17, 2019.

What is this? Who can participate?

This is a week appreciation for the character of Anders. During this week, the Dragon Age fandom is invited to post positive content about him. From artists to writers to cosplayers, everyone is welcome to participate!  We ask you to tag your post with #proandersweek so that we can reblog your work.

What We Accept:

Loving and cherishing Anders in all forms of art; fanfiction, gifsets, edits, fan videos, screenshots and anything else you could come up with. Nsfw is welcome, but should be tagged accordingly.

We all know that Anders deserved better than life in the Ferelden Circle. What can you tell us about his time there? What antics did he and Sir-Pounce-a-Lot get up to? What happened on his many escape attempts? Was you Surana or Amell close with him? We’re ready to hear from you! Alternate Theme: What are some of your favorite ships that include Anders? Please include your platonic ships as well!

Day 2 -  Grey Warden Anders | “Why I Love Anders”

Anders wasn’t destined to end up a Grey Warden, but do you have anything to say about his time in Amaranthine? How was his relationship with the Warden Commander? What stories did he weave while wandering the Deep Roads? What did he really think about life after the Joining? We can’t wait to hear from you! Alternate Theme: Give us more reasons to love and support Anders!

Day 3 - The Kirkwall Medic | Justice

It must’ve been difficult for Anders to setup a healing clinic in Kirkwall, how do you think he did it? Do you think many Kirkwallers didn’t believe Meredith’s lies about mages? What are your headcanons about this time before Anders met Hawke? Alternate Theme: Maybe you’re feeling philosophical! What is Justice to Anders?  What does justice mean to you? How does this relate to Anders? 

Day 4 - Activism | Headcanons/Au

We all know that Anders took many actions before that fateful day at the Chantry. Tell us about them! Alternative Theme: What are your favorite headcanons for Anders? Bioware did him no favors in Awakening or in 2. Or maybe an AU? Share them with us!

Day 5 -  Manifesto | Neurodivergent Anders

It’s not discussed much but hinted at Anders Manifesto that he is writing for ages before 2 and throughout the game. We don’t get to see it, so this is why we came up with a day dedicated to it. What do you think it looks like? What would you write if you were Anders? Share your ideas with us! Alternative Theme:  Neurodivergent Anders. They don’t have a word for it in Thedas bc they don’t have modern medicine like we do, but its obvious he suffers from mental illnesses and ptsd. This is an important fact to many fans of his. How do you feel about him being nd? and how he is treated by other companions? How would you change the writing in the games?

Day 6 -  Inquisition | Pride Day

Inquisition was a mess on how they treated Anders.  If it was up to us the  writing would have been more favorable. What would you have like to have seen and heard from Hawke and Varric? If Anders was in inquisition how would you write him?Alternative Theme: Pride day! Anders is bi! isn’t it wonderful! Something that is hidden from fem hawke, but, thankfully, not us. How would you have changed the writing? How do you relate to him? Explore it all on day 6.

Day 7 - Post-Game | Free day

What is Anders up to these days? Is he happily settled with your Hawke or is he too busy helping out his fellow mages? That is up to you. Alternative Theme: If you want, you can just let your imagination run wild and come up with your own theme! Anything goes!

On an unrelated note, antis crave to see weakness, so I've never illustrated how fucked up I've been by years of emotional abuse, but fuck, if they knew how much shit affected me and how much I know and lived through why abuse is not romantic or cute IRL, I wish that would serve enough to shut them up. But it won't. Because they don't care, because they don't see me as human.

I have horrible commitment and trust issues after being in an abusive relationship. My ADHD already makes it hard enough for me to handle relationships with other people. I'm already an introvert, so being around others is draining automatically, and autism and anxiety makes it difficult for me to manoeuvre socially. Abuse took that and compounded it and made me kind of a fucking wreck who prefers to spend time alone. I know what it does to people because I live it every single day.

How does it not register to you that fictional characters don't? They don't live anything any day because they are not real. But I am real. When you throw abuse at me, it's just like what my own abuser did. Being gaslit and made to question my own feelings, being told being upset over anything is overreacting, that it's not that deep, that these threats don't mean anything, it's all hitting the exact same notes. I'm good at handling anon hate sent my way because I have spent every second since I was old enough to interact with my peers being verbally beaten down until I was suicidal in middle school, and at this point those notes have been hit so hard they no longer matter. You think I don't know how to play this fucking game after being trapped in it since I was in preschool? You think because you don't write bad things happening to made up people you're somehow different from them?

Abusers are the same, and I'm very fucking good at smelling them. You reek, antis.

@pisstownshend that'd be nice if that were all you did, but instead of recognising that a) your definition of child porn includes ships between adults and teenagers, b) some people use this material to cope, and do not owe it to you to disclose this reasoning, so you shouldn't make assumptions about why people consume such content, and c) pedos beating it to fictional characters isn't child abuse like pedos beating it to real children is, you guys simplify into calling us all filthy pedophile apologists and tell us to die and get raped. The things I've had antis tell me have absolutely been abuse, and my opinions on fictional characters who have no feelings do not justify that abuse.

My question is, if antis believe that wanking to fake, fictional children is so bad, why don't you report these people to the FBI? If they are so hellbent on getting rid of "pedos" in every way, why not report these people like a good anti? Being uncomfortable with something =/= it being immoral.

Also feel you on that one. I would talk about my trauma and such here, but I try to keep it very generalized (for obvious reasons, mostly due to being diagnosed with PTSD/depression/multitude of other disorders). I've been abused most of my life by family members as well as two abusive relationships and nothing fictional can EVER compare to what I went through. And saying "fictional children being abused is just as bad/worse than real children being abused" makes me wanna throw a table for many reasons.

But yes, god. It's like it doesn't register to them that I know what it feels like, and I know that it hurts, and I also know that fictional characters never have to suffer because they can't think. So it's about prioritising who actually suffers.

Antis just can’t seem to get it through their thick skulls, do they? I can’t recall how many times I’ve been cyberbullied, gotten death threats in my asks. And been told I am sick, a paedophile and a fetishizer and I have “no rights?” Or that I am “problematic, for liking some relationship dynamics.“ I had enough of bullying from elementary-junior high (8 years, mostly verbal bullying and Teacher’s who didn’t care. Jolly fun that!) I’m an introvert and like to keep to myself. Liking fanart and fan-fiction is what has helped me cope over the years. Fandom interactions have been a mainly positive experience for me.

Invalidating our real-life experiences as not important enough of a claim. That we do have first-hand experience with how it feels to be a victim. Antis adore to give us all sorts of labels and put us into “problematic/icky boxes.” If they don’t like what they come across when browsing our content.

I honestly wish fandom newbies knew about some of these older fandom terminologies. Don’t like something? Stop right where you are. And go somewhere else and find something else to focus on!


Tailoring my own fandom/mutual/follower circle helps. But they are still around and spouting their inane bullshit. If only they could focus on the actual crimes that are happening instead of fictional? 

Another note: Calling the FBI to “take me in,” for a “crime” they have no jurisdiction over. Because amazingly..I’m from Europe! Not in the USA…oh but I forget, everything is about the USA being “the world” these days. (And my crimes, are liking my hobby of fan-fictional consumption and contributing.)

Happy Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day to all the folks who aren't going to be tagged today. Who only have a few followers. Who have only gotten a handful of comments or kudos. Who aren't anyone's favorite author. Who keep on writing for little or no reward.

Your stories are valuable even if they haven't been found yet or don't resonate with the fandom the way bigger names do. In a culture that places value in big numbers and audiences, your will to keep writing without those things is an act of bravery.
